Hudson Park

Hudson Park

Hudson Park, in the town of Hudson NY, is a series of lots that together form a single connected park and pathway. Our proposal was to visually connect these parks together through a series of linear LED fixtures. These light strips are embedded in the path every 6 feet. Although not too bright, they raise and lower in intensity as people walk across them.

The light strips form complex shifting waves of light during the evening, the intensity and variability of which depends on which day of the week or occasion it may be. So the Hudson Park Lighting acts as a giant canvas to mark the various activities of the town.

The Light strips are made from two high-intensity LEDs that send light into solid light pipes. They are embedded into the path with glass diffusion panels on top to both refract light and protect the fixtures. A series of movement sensors suspended from the various surrounding buildings output to a computer which then controls the various light fixtures.
